I don’t think we’re breaking any records for slow tempos, and aren’t likely to be passed by any snails in the outside lane on this one, but 50bpm is 50bpm and it’s a very interesting tempo to improvise at.
This footage is from a concert with the trio in August of 2022 in Viljandi Estonia, with Nico Viccaro and Tom Cawley. I have to give massive thanks to the festival for having us, and for being so kind with this fantastic footage of the show.
It’s always a learning experience when I finally get time to review tour footage and see what’s working and what isn’t. There was a lot about this that was, and that’s why I’m sharing it with you now.
The trio’s ability to create something huge out of a single kick and snare pattern from a drum machine pedal is what excites me about putting in the work to make tours like this happen again.
Lots more songs and footage to share with you soon, and look out for a mega video on the new HX One from line6. I had it for just two days and it already made it onto the new pedalboard 😮
And on the subject of new pedalboards, I wasn’t the only one in my household getting one this week! I build one for my wife who is playing bass on a musical here in Los Angeles for a few weeks, and it has on-stage and off-stage bass rigs for both upright and electric.
Not complicated, but super clean and hopefully effective. Last night of rehearsals tonight, so I’ll report in on whether I’m hired or fired as her bass tech or not on the next episode of the podcast.
More Soon,
Janek
