My love for this classic quintet of Miles Davis in the 60’s is immense. You can listen to Herbie’s comping alone and get several college degrees in harmony in a single concert.
As I work on the new album I take breaks each day to listen to other music like this, and refresh my perspective on what the balance of an incredibly cohesive ensemble sounds like.
Enjoy,
Janek

Astonishing! Yes, one could certainly write a hefty tome on Herbie’s comping. ( T W’s temporal gear shifting too!) I remember the first time I heard the Plugged nickel recordings and listening to this concert takes me right back to that earlier epiphany. Thanks for sharing, Janek.
Such a great group!
