Giant Steps Book OUT NOW!

It's finally here in both digital and physical format

The labor of love that has occupied most of the past 6 months of my life is finally finished and ready for me to hand over to you. Chelsea, as you will see, did an outstanding job on making my chicken scratch into a book that will actually teach you something. I couldn’t do any of this without her.

Something I’m not making public just yet, and maybe not at all outside of this mailing list, is that I’m using the site where I host the videos and play alongs to share a special bonus folder of incredible live versions of Giant Steps from my archive.

This is the audio from one of the complete Pat Metheny transcriptions that’s in the last chapter of the book, and I’m excited to grow this hidden element of the supplemental material as I find more great versions that will help your listening process.

My books are a huge part of my income as a musician, and in keeping with trying to be as open and transparent about my process, I’m working on a video for YouTube right now that breaks down exactly how it all works. There’s a lot more to it than simply notating some licks and writing an explanation, and I hope you’ll join me on the main channel over the coming weeks as I lift the veil on the authoring process.
