A unique experience to hear Jaco live with Herbie featuring Benny Maupin and James Levi.

Aside from the Joni Mitchell album “Mingus” which I know both Jaco and Herbie played on together, the recording I know the best is “4 a.m.” from “Mr Hands”, where they play in trio with Harvey Mason on drums.

No doubt there are many recordings floating around out there that involved both legends, but aside from the obvious solo albums of Jaco’s (Word of Mouth and Jaco Pastorius), it’s the Mr Hands album I know the best.

I played that track on repeat for months and could probably play the entire bassline right now if I picked up my bass. I always dreamed about what it would be live to hear them in concert, and this bootleg is about as close to that as we could possibly come.
